Lexus & Marjan van Aubel Illuminate Miami with Interactive Art Installation

Luxury car manufacturer Lexus has recently unveiled an impressive interactive installation at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami. The installation, titled 8 Minutes and 20 Seconds, is the result of a collaboration with Dutch solar designer Marjan van Aubel. The title refers to the time it takes for light to travel from the sun to earth, underscoring the theme of harnessing solar energy.
Known for her innovative use of solar cells, Marjan van Aubel has reimagined the Lexus Future Zero-emission Catalyst concept car as a striking solar sculpture. The installation is inspired by the power of carbon-neutral energy, aligning with Lexus’s commitment to environmental sustainability. It debuted in early December and was on view throughout Miami Art & Design Week 2023.
The installation also had an interactive component. As viewers approached and moved around the sculpture, it responded with changes in light and sound. Additionally, the installation would also alter its color scheme based on the time of day, transitioning from warmer tones in the morning to cooler hues in the evening.
